Number 37 Midnight in Paris

I have found a new love for travel and am always planning the next trip and adventure. Weeks of researching, trying to get the best flights, creating the perfect itinerary of places to go, things to see and where to eat and drink. And whilst I love this ritual of mine, last month I decided to be spontaneous and on Monday morning booked a trip to Paris that weekend.

With only 4 days to go, I decided to just ‘go with it’, no itinerary, no plans, no restaurants booked.

The journey on the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris Gare Du Nord is a mere 2 hours and 15 mins.

With only 24 hours in one of the most iconic and romantic cities in the world it was great to simply walk around, stumble on Parisian cafes and restaurants and marvel at the cities architecture.

Paris is renowned for fashion and it was also the weekend a friend of mine unveiled his first fashion design collection  Atelier Kokeli, at the end of Paris couture week and so a visit to see his vision come to life was a must.

A trip to Galleries Lafayette does not disappoint with its beautiful dome ceiling and fabulous designer brands. We stumbled across thier rooftop and spent the early evening sipping cocktails in an igloo overlooking Paris and the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

We went for dinner at a small restaurant and enjoyed some of the finest French wine.

The most perfect part of the entire weekend was as we walked down to Trocadero to see the wonder that is the Eiffel Tower. On each hour the Tower sparkles and glistens for 5 mins. We waited whilst the rain poured down, my umbrella having a mind of its own, counting down the minutes to midnight and right on cue she shone bright like a diamond. It was the most magical unplanned moment.

It’s good to make plans it gives you focus and a sense of accomplishment once you’ve completed them as you intended. But there’s nothing more liberating than deciding to be spontaneous, going with the flow, not knowing what you’ll discover, who you will meet or moments you may experience.
